That Unique Organic Touch

Don’t you just love to go into shops and start testing those fragrant smelling lotions that companies claim work so well for your skin? Before I fell pregnant, I would spend time winding down by trying on these creams and soaking in these fragrances.

When I fell pregnant, that my husband, being a health advocate, did some research and informed me on the dangers of these creams for myself and my unborn child. I have since turned to more natural products instead of big brand names.  Wanting the best for my child, my family went on a hunt and found several natural products. We found out that natural products work so much more effectively with the peace of mind that it came from plants and not some lab- invented chemicals that might be harmful in the long run. The thing to look out for is that natural products can still be non-organic and some skincare containing organic products may also contain synthetic chemicals.

We found a range of skincare called Bumble Bees Organic babycare that was formulated in the kitchen of an aroma therapist, who had a passion for providing safe, gentle and effective skincare for her own children.  Infused with the natural goodness of essential oils, each formulation brings together the experience and intimate understanding of both a mother and aroma therapist, armed with the knowledge that mothers simply want the best for their family. Excited to share this, we thought of importing the products into the Singapore market. We did some background research to find that there were few brands with 100% natural ingredient listings and most organic products in the market  had chemicals and as well as organic products in them. The blend of a totally natural and organic skincare range was rare.

It is hard to know both the challenges and joys that a mother goes through until you become one.  But then your knowledge of motherhood begins an immediate upward spiral that never ends.  This may be why mothers often connect so well and desire to hear about each others experiences.  In fact it is out of a mothers experience that we are able to bring to you these truly unique ranges of skin care. “Bumble Bees Organic Baby Skin Care” and “Amboni Organics Mother Care”. Thus, comes the birth our our online store, www.essentiaOrganics.com.sg

There was a lot to content with doing a home business, especially at the start. You have to be passionate and believe that the product WILL bring benefits. Being a user yourself is a great way to learn and find out the suitability of the products. We referred to the website a lot for information and have to go through heaps of paperwork with GST registrations and taxes. ACRA provides a good source of information.

My husband and I had full time jobs in Melbourne and coming home after a day’s work and the continuation of looking after a toddler is a big challenge, having a business online which is flexible is a good thing; we can  work on it when our son goes to bed. It is not easy but taking this business on as a side-line helps as income flow continues.

Planning in advance is critical as we have found out, and lots of marketing to promote early awareness for the website is vital. Don’t’ forget that networking online helps too.

In a nutshell, be prepared for the long haul, a business can be a hobby but don’t run out of energies to run it.

Love what you do and live it too.
