Time Management for Mompreneur

A mom’s work is never done and it’s especially true for Mompreneurs. Good time management is a skill that determine your home business success. Good time management may increase your output and also make your work more efficient.

If you are working alone for your home business, it really depends all on yourself what to do and how to do it. No one will tell you what exactly you need to do because you are your own boss. Let’s say you have your partner, you can still discuss your work schedule and business direction with your partner. However, it’s also very much rely on your own time management to get the task accomplish. Once you set a schedule for yourself, always stick to it and remember to do one thing at one time.

A to-do list will help to get our work done by end of the day. Many Mompreneurs choose to work on regular work schedule for example from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday. The to-do list is an effective tool for Mompreneurs and we can off work earlier when the items on the to-do lists are being done.

You can have your daily to-do list and the best times to create a daily to-do list are just before bed or first thing in the morning. I always plan my time and have my own to-do list to make sure my works are done as per schedule. I will divide my list into few categories which are “must do”, “need to do” and “good to do”. I always take my time to finish the works under “must do” category and then go to the “need to do” part. It’s not always the case I can finish all the tasks but with a good time management, I normally get my priority jobs done.

I believe most of the moms have the experience that once you leave your work in the morning “just to wash the dishes”, you are likely to wonder where the whole morning went. I have this experience and therefore I get myself a to-do list rather than follow a work schedule to work a fixed time per day. I just need to get my items in the list done before end of the day and I could finish it within few slots time.

I understand the main reason for moms to choose to work from home is primary to spend more time with the family especially the children. You may not want to work during weekend and think of spend time with your family members. However, at the earlier stage of business, you really won’t be able to reach that kind of comfort level. In fact, you need to be more flexible and prepare your weekends to be your working day when you lost time during the weekday. When your business is established and thriving, and you are able to spend more time with your family, all of your initial efforts will pay off for you.
