How To Convert Visitors Into Customers

I hope by now you have used the Google Analytics to track your website traffic and get the right targeted visitors. However, this is not the end of the story, it’s just the beginning! We have more important thing to do, that’s to convert the visitors into customers.

If you’re getting enough targeted traffic but aren’t making many sales, it’s time to identify potential trouble spots.

4 questions to ask yourself

  1. Does your site load slowly?
  2. Do you make it difficult to do business with you?
  3. Do you maintain contact with your visitors?
  4. Do visitors trust you enough to become customers?

1) Does your site load slowly?
Slow and long loading time will chase your customers away! Not many people have the patient to wait around for a bloated site to download. If your site full of graphics that would make your site loads slowly, try to cut unnecessary graphics.

2) Do you make it difficult to do business with you?
Of course you don’t want to make it difficult, but do consider the following questions:

  • Do you offer a variety of payment methods?
  • Do you have FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page and can the customer contacts you if he has questions?
  • Is it easy for visitors to find what they want at your site?
  • Do you make your visitors sit through useless intros, splash pages?

3) Do you maintain contact with your visitors?
Majority of us not spend on the site that we first time visit. This is in fact very common. Not everyone will buy the first time they visit your site don’t mean that they don’t need or want what you have to sell. They just don’t need it or want it now.

This is just like we go for window shopping and get to know where got great stuffs. For some reasons we didn’t buy for the moment but when the time we need it, we will go directly to get it. Most of the time, we would back to it when the shop has promotion or great sales.

The most important is to maintain the contact with your visitors. Email newsletter is a great way to keep in touch with them. Provide them useful information about your products, draw their awareness and attention about your site. Keep them inform if got new items or promotions.

4) Do visitors trust you enough to become customers?

We normally buy from someone we trust a lot or a brand/company that has credibility. Your visitors must perceive you as trustworthy and credible or they’ll never buy.

There are several ways to boost your credibility:

  • Posting your existing customers testimonials or examples of your work
  • Convey a professional image
  • Post your contact information

Pay attention on your conversion rate and you can always track it using Google Analytics. Or you can always use the formula below for checking.

Conversion Rate = How many visitors are needed to sell 1 item = No. of Visitors / No. of Sales

For eg. Conversion Rate = 200 visitors / 2 sales = 100
